Veterans Day

The UNC Greensboro Student Veterans Association (SVA), Veterans Resource Center (VRC), and UNC Greensboro are proud of our Veterans and service members. To show our gratitude to these hero’s we host multiple events for Veterans Day to honor those who have and are currently serving. Veterans Day 2015 is shaping up to be our best year yet!

Thanking Americas Military – Card Signing

Faculty, staff and students are invited to stop by the tables set up in EUC to make or sign “Get Well” or “Thank-You” cards for hospitalized service members serving overseas or in a local VA center. Staff Senate, the Veterans Resource Center and the UNC Greensboro Students Veterans Association have ready-made cards available for signing, and for those who feel creative, there will be blank cards, stamps, stickers, and more to make original creations. Some of the cards will be sent to the VA hospital in Salisbury, NC and some will be sent to Operation Quiet Comfort, a support group whose purpose is to honor and comfort America’s military men and women who become sick or injured while serving overseas.

Field Of Honor

The UNC Greensboro Student Veterans Association sets up a field of honor on the front lawn of the Elliot University Center (Kaplan Commons). Each flag on the lawn is meant to represent an active duty or prior service member who is attending our university.

Annual Veterans Day Celebration

Each year, UNCG hosts its Veterans Day Celebration to honor all those who have served, serve now, and will serve in the future.  The family-friendly event features games, interactive experiences, military equipment, and a formal program with a keynote speaker.  Following the event, The Veterans Resource Center hosts a reception for student veterans, dependents, event participants, and guests.  Refreshments will be provided to all attendees. This will be a time to socialize and reminisce. We will conclude the day with a few short words from select individuals.
